Women these days have a variety of implants to choose from. I tend to like the smooth-walled implants because I believe they give a more natural result than the textured implants. I think these tend to ripple more because they adhere to the tissue under the skin. Two types of implant are available, the saline or salt-water filled implants and the silicone or gel-filled implants. Both are excellent implants and I feel both are very safe. Which type is best for you is something we talk about extensively during your consultation We can also help you determine both the correct size and type of implant that suits you best.

I do the procedure under general anesthesia in our full-accredited outpatient surgical facility. I believe this is the safest approach and patients tolerate this much better than local anesthesia with sedation. I prefer the peri-areolar or “under the nipple” incision because it heals very well in is almost invisible when completely healed. With the silicone implants however, generally a submammary incision or “under the breast” incision is necessary.
